Hello, I'm Sofia
Project manager. Parent. Expat based in Florence, Italy.
A few years ago, I moved here with my family. What began as a temporary contract gradually turned into a new chapter of life abroad.
How It Started
Moving to Italy wasn’t part of our long-range plan. Like many international moves, it started as a job opportunity and soon grew into something far bigger.
The initial months were demanding — unfamiliar systems, new routines, and new expectations. Everyday tasks felt tougher than they should.
The Adjustment Period
Culture shock, uncertainty, and plenty of hands-on learning accompanied us. Yet over time, routines settled in. We found places that fit us, connected with other families, and began building something that felt steady.
Why I Built Mossy Brook Route
Most information online fell into either corporate relocation guides or shallow tourism material. What was missing was a sincere, everyday family perspective.
This site aims to bridge that gap — practical guidance drawn from real life in Italy.
What This Site Represents (And What It Does Not)
This site IS:
- Practical insights from living in Italy
- Centered on family life and everyday realities
- Updated only when meaningful changes occur
This site ISN'T:
- A resource from a tourism-board
- Sponsored-review platform
- A generic travel blog
Looking Ahead
Our time in Italy continues, and the learning journey goes on. As long as the information remains useful, I’ll keep documenting what we discover.
If you have questions about family life in Florence or anywhere in Italy, feel free to reach out.
Cheers,
Sofia
